This vintage 70’s oil painting is by Harold Symes, (born 1929) now retired from a position with the Loudoun Academy of the Arts Foundation in Leesburg Virginia. Symes is an accomplished artist and educator with a BAE from the Art Institute of Chicago and an MA from American University. He has taught in Arlington, Virginia, public Schools, Nova, and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). He exhibits works in numerous galleries and shows around the Northern Virginia region.

This 30-plus year old painting of Annapolis harbor is notable for how well Symes managed the true-to-the-seventies color scheme and a host of compositional elements.
