This is an original hand colored lithograph from John James Audubon’s monumental work on American mammals, The Quadrupeds of North America. This print was taken from the First Edition. 1849-54. First Edition prints are the most sought after. Like the birds the prints were first issued in folio size and then later issued in the octavo size.

This plate was printed and colored by J.T. Bowen of Philadelphia. Print is in excellent condition with nice bright original color.
