Very rare 1956 abstract gouache "Composition 16" by well listed German abstractionist, Fred Schaefer.

Fredrich Schaeffer (1869-?) was German born, but widely represented in the U.S., particularly, NY, and SF. He is listed in Davenports, Mallet, etc..

Verso the piece is titled and dated by Schaefer, with address and date. The artwork is in amazing condition with colors that are rich and vital.
