ROBERT CHEE

Navajo - Born Dec. 14, 1937 at St. Michaels, Ariz.

Attended school at Bellemont, Ariz. and at Intermountain Indian School at Brigham City, Utah.Through 9th grade.

Studied art there under Allen Houser, Apache, for two years.

Returned to St. Michaels in 1956. Entered U. S. Army August 1957. Served in Germany about 10 months. Did murals in Army buildings at Mainz. Discharged from Army in 1960.

Won first prizes at Navajo Tribal Fair in 1959. In 1960 won third in Navajo-Pueblo Class At Philbrook Art Center. Won more prizes at Navajo Tribal Fair in 1960.

First reproductions of his work appeared in December 1960 issue of New Mexico Magazine.
