This is an original oil on board by listed Canadian artist Kenneth Loveless. It is signed verso and comes from the estate of the artist. This lovely wooded landscape is typical of Loveless' unique style, combining the colourful landscapes of Edvard Munch and the Symbolist interpretations of Gauguin. Please see the photos below of this excellent work. Kenneth Loveless lived just 35 years before he committed suicide. During his life he created some very high quality paintings along the lines of Bertram Brooker and Lowrie Warrener. He studied under Stanley Moyer during the 1940s at the Ontario Colege of Art and was greatly influenced by other leading artists of his day. This is a rare painting by a very accomplished artist that lived a shorter life than Tom Thomson.
