Rachel V Hartley is a listed and gifted artist. Her mother, Helen, was the daughter of George Innes, the world renowned painter. Her father, Jonathan Scott Hartley was a well known sculptor. Rachel Hartley traveled the world painting natives and villages in South America, and the West Indies. In 1919 Mrs. Hartley moved to Southampton where this wonderful landscape was most likely painted. She continued to travel and paint her other favorite haunts; the USA, its people and especially the children. This is a wonderful example of this very talented artist whose works are coveted by collectors.
